Creationism versus Darwinism
February 17th, 2010As widely known the less educated part of USA population tends to be less educated then the less educated part in Europe; and additionally more religious then Europeans: This is why English is a necessity to reach the audience this article is addressing.
Since Darwin and science in his footsteps found out more about how live evolved from simple animals to the most complex, such as humans, the fundamental concept of genesis, Adam and Eve as the first humans is thrown back to a mere symbolic believe, comfort and hope. While this is fine, monotheistic religion tends to motivate radical, discriminating and ill motivated behaviour.
What is religion?
Religion is a collection of believes and normative concepts designed to help people to understand the world, live a happy life in society and not feel alone but profit from hope.
Religion was used to make it easier to rule and suppress people through giving them hope of a better afterlife as well as to give hope and consolation to suffering individuals; so the can take more. Religion can not be proven, it relies on beliefing into the conglomerate of concepts and viewpoints and legitimating entity known as good. Also it explains the merely answerable questions of meaning, origin and sense in once life: how the world come into existence through good and how it was ment to be used by humans as goods children.
What is science?
Science is a system of rules in order to guaranty quality in gaining knowledge. Therefore arguments have to be based on facts or experiments and explorations which can be repeated, so there outcome can be reproofed or disproved by others. Science is an elite system, where only true concepts stay alive in the longrun of controversy. Even an long-lasting concept should be able to be proven untrue very easily by one single opposing argument alongside one single provable fact; at least this is the goal of science-sciences. The first science is to be philosophies, from which all others originate, these were used as a mental and an social system through which findings or securing those - everything we know of - for sure today.
Creationism is not science while Darwinism is:
Creationism does have nothing to do with science. It is a mere effort - not even a brilliant one - to find scientific arguments for a believe: that there might be a creative intelligent designer who designed the world as it is - Adam and Eva and so on. The evidence is such as; eg: Arguing that the human eye is of such complex nature that it can not have evolved through evolution. Though this argument is really funny, because it proves the uncreative mind imagining or believing it is a shock that some people really believe it. Arguments like this are believes and can be said to originat from a lack of understanding the brilliance of nature.
Darwinism is an quite old science theory which has been tested heavily against and while it might not yet be completely explored nor completely integrated in scientific knowledge known to be true at this time it is long last accepted. Its explanatory power is very high and it has been useful for a variety of sciences and their applications.
Why do Creationists call for a war against Darwinism and claim that one side will win, and why is this an obscure mistake?
Christ’s in the USA tend to be as fundamental in their believes as we in Europe tended to be centuries ago. Children are educated with the believe in Adam and Eve even before they come to school and learn about Darwinism and science. They search for a place where good still has a place in there world. Some feel very insecure about their believe in god (I do not wander) and therefore defensivly motivated they neglect Evolution as evil whatsoever.
These Christs are unsure in their believes and feel themselfs and their believes questioned through Darwinism. But because their picure of the world depends on simlification through religion, it must feel as a great lost to be proven that Darwin was right. Truth can hurt, and be told over and over again even more, therefore the do not want to study some ideas of scientific quality. By neglecting Darwinism and believing in Gods creation in six days they repeat the historical quest about weather earth is flat or round. Well I feel not so much sorry for them, because the very same people also believe in war as a method to conquer troth for there own believes. They do this, because they are afraid that the bible is to be proven wrong. Therefore they go on a guest “war” against Darwinism, and say that one side will win. This will sadly to say not happen. Because Evolution is already proven to be right and creationism is just a beleave wich is for political reasons in the USA to be tried to be repainted as an science. Acualy it isnt, while earning money with it is surely possible.
Why am I so hard, repeatedly and clear in words, close to discourtesy?
Quote of an mother in a letter to the school about her daughter: “Twice I have heard that the collage is growing liberal. That they teaching evolution at Wheaton. What graves me most is that our daughter may loose her faith at Wheaton. Is this possible? If her faith should be shattered or even shaken I´d rather see her dead. (From the US Documentary What About God)” Really no comment is necessary, is it?
About morals and norms!
Believers are so afraid, because science prove the bible wrong in many places, about geographies, about the big bang, about Adam and Eva and so on. They fear that if the bible is wrong in these concerns their social implications and moral as well as normative rules are ill-legitimised.
But morals do not come from the bible or even culture, they are mainly inherited through culture and where thought out by humans themselfs, who are able of judgement on their own. There are even genetic mechanisms who are inherited and are used by the brain in combination with morals inherited through culture to express a most of the time collective but sometimes individual sense of moral. So we are able to be moral and act moral and not lose the way we want to live without religion. Just the way morals are expressed is determined by the Umwelt.
While many people gain a lot from the bible, therefore it does not to habe be proven right. The bible is not necessary. We will still feel the same about moral rules and moral concepts without it. It is implanted in our genes as well as in our culture. It is no problem at all to believe in a god and at the same time be an educated pearson. Bible is not to be taken literal, it is a source of collected social wisdom and knowledge helping people to live a social and happy life, if used the right way. If not it can be used by the upper and educated class to make the “lesser” classes more tolerant to suffering or send them to war in the name of whatever god.
Believe what you want, but don´t judge others only on believes but on reasoning powers and education.
